NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The 2024 TransPerfect Music City Bowl made a significant economic impact on the city of Nashville, generating $26.6 million in total economic impact. The annual college football showdown saw the Iowa Hawkeyes take on the No. 19 Missouri Tigers, with Mizzou securing the victory, 27-24.
Nissan Stadium played host to the matchup welcoming 43,375 attendees bringing the Bowl’s total attendance to over 1.4 million over the last 27 years.
“The Music City Bowl continues to have a positive economic impact on our city consistent with our mission of 27 years,” said Scott Ramsey, President & CEO of the Music City Bowl. “The Bowl continues to demonstrate Nashville’s growing appeal as a destination for sports fans and major sporting events.”
Per attendee surveys, 65.2% of total fans were out of towners staying an average of 2.67 nights. Out of town attendees occupied roughly 25,156 hotel room nights and spent on average, $271.17 a day. Residents spent $185.96 a day on average.
The TransPerfect Music City Bowl broadcast drew 2.8 million viewers nationally from the game aired on ESPN. Bringing the cumulative viewership to 109.5 million viewers since the bowl’s beginning.

Since 2001, the Bowl has used the Nashville Sports Council’s nationally recognized Scorecard report to measure the impact and effectiveness of sporting events on the local economy. The Scorecard measures economic impact, media exposure and community involvement based on ratings and surveys from participants, spectators, volunteers and media that attend the event.
