NASHVILLE, Tenn., (March 12, 2010) – Representatives of the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl have announced its partnership with the Southeastern Conference (SEC) has been extended through the 2013 college football season.
“We are delighted to announce a four-year extension with the SEC,” said Christine Karbowiak, Bowl Chair. “Nashville has been a great destination for SEC teams and fans and we look forward to continuing to provide them with an incredible Bowl experience right here in Music City. In addition, the support that we have through Franklin American Mortgage Company, Gaylord Hotels, the Nashville Event and Marketing Fund and a long roster of loyal corporate sponsors really positions the Bowl well through 2013.”
The Bowl has been affiliated with the SEC since the event’s inception in 1998. SEC teams won three of the four conference matchups under the previous Bowl contract with the ACC (2006-2009). The Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl will select sixth after the BCS selection for years 2010-2013. The Bowl will continue to be broadcast on ESPN through 2014.
“The Southeastern Conference is pleased to continue its relationship with the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl,” said SEC Commissioner Mike Slive. “Nashville has been a great host to our schools and fans for the past twelve years. The Bowl gives our institutions an opportunity to play in an outstanding stadium and enjoy a world-class tourist destination that is centrally located in the SEC footprint.”
“Franklin American Mortgage is proud to once again be affiliated with the SEC in conjunction with the Bowl,” said Dan Crockett, president & CEO of Franklin American Mortgage Company. “We could not ask for a better situation in partnering with both the SEC and ACC for the next four years.”
“The SEC versus ACC match-up just makes strategic sense for the Bowl in maximizing fan travel and interest in the southeast regional footprint,” said Toby Wilt, Bowl Selection Committee Chairman. “Since 1998, the long-standing partnership that the Bowl has had with the SEC and its member institutions has produced measurable results and delivered value to the Nashville community.”
“We are thrilled to extend our agreement with the SEC,” said Scott Ramsey, president & CEO of the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl. “There is a lot of momentum as we head into 2010 with a new title sponsor, Franklin American Mortgage Company. Our continued partnership with ESPN as our national broadcast partner and the hundreds of volunteers who help host the Bowl each year will continue to provide a great experience for the SEC.”
