NASHVILLE, Tenn., (April 15, 2009) – Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl representatives announced today that this year’s annual post-season bowl game will make its primetime debut in a national broadcast on Sun., Dec. 27, 2009, at 7:15 p.m. CST at LP Field in Nashville.
“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to showcase this game and Music City for the ESPN primetime audience,” said Christine Karbowiak, Bowl chair. “For the first time in our 12-year history, our game will take place under the lights of LP Field and with it will bring an exciting, new dynamic to our annual holiday tradition.”
The 2009 game will mark the fourth Bowl match-up between the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and Southeastern Conference (SEC) in Nashville. Last year’s game featured Vanderbilt University defeating Boston College by a score of 16-14. Since its inception in 1998, the Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl has produced $153 million in direct economic impact to Nashville and has had more than 50 million viewers through its live ESPN telecast.
"The Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl continues to be a big part of our lineup and we are excited to showcase it as the only bowl game on Dec. 27. After a storybook game featuring Vanderbilt's first bowl victory in more than 50 years, we look forward to another great ACC - SEC showdown in Nashville for 2009,” said Dave Brown, vice president programming, ESPN.
“We’re excited about the opportunity with ESPN to feature Nashville in primetime for the first time in the Bowl’s history,” said Scott Ramsey, Bowl president and CEO. “This year’s game date and time is unique for the Bowl because we will be the only college football game on Sunday night and having the game on a weekend will be attractive for our local fan base as well as traveling fans.
Renewals for 2008 ticket holders will be sent mid-May and tickets will go on sale to the general public through Ticketmaster on Sept. 1. Corporate ticket packages are currently available, which include prime ticket locations, hospitality benefits and corporate exposure.
